How we choose topics

We write about questions real homeowners ask: what broke, who to hire, what it costs, what insurance usually covers and what to do when a job goes wrong.

How we research

Facts come from primary and authoritative sources: federal and state agencies (for example FTC, EPA, CPSC, state insurance departments and attorneys general), manufacturer documentation and recognized industry bodies. Personal stories from the internet are treated as examples, never as proof.

How we check

Every guide is reviewed by a separate fact-checker against its sources before publication, and approved by the editor. Sources are listed at the end of each article.

AI tools

We use AI tools to help research and draft. Every published guide is checked against its sources and approved by a human editor.

Corrections and updates

If something is wrong or out of date, we fix it and show the updated date at the top of the article.
